在CentOS系统中，通过下载MySQL的RPM安装包，使用YUM命令进行安装。安装过程中涉及了依赖包的升级和降级。然后通过编辑my.cnf文件，重启mysqld服务来忘记root密码。接着在MySQL命令行中更新用户表，清空root用户的认证字符串，再设置新的root密码，并刷新权限。
