Assignment 16-4: Visualizing Email Data
In this assignment, you can directly manipulate the existing database 'content.sqlite' from Ass. 16-3. Whereas, for a better display effect, I strongly suggest you download a lot more messages (e.g. 3000) by running 'gmane.py' again and updating 'content.sqlite'.
N.B. This process may take several minutes, the exact time cost is determined by your computer performance.
The corresponding result by running 'gmodel.py' also changes.
1. Run 'gbasic.py' and get a new result based on the operations above.
N.B. Now you can type in a larger value (e.g. 30) for dumping.
2. Run 'gword.py' to update 'gword.js' based on the updated 'index.sqlite'.
3. Open 'gword.htm' to check the result.
4. Run 'gline.py' and open 'gline.htm' to check the statistic of the messages per month.
Up to here, you have finished all the compulsory assignments of this capstone course which does not require coding yourself, and you can obtain the 'honor stamp' on your certificate. However, if you prefer to seek the perfect completion on this course and even this specification, you have to perform the last task by writing Python code.
1. Open ‘Atom’ and build a new file "gyear.htm" as below.
2. Change 'gyear.py' and run it to update 'gyear.js'. The python code and corresponding results are shown as follows.
Python code
Result in Python
Updated gyear.js
3. Open 'gyear.htm' to check the statistic of the messages per year.
N.B. According to the number of messages you download, the values in statistics may vary.
That is everything I can share with you.
Sincerely wish you to obtain your certificate(s) with minimum monetary investment, time cost, and mental stress.
