Scp Usage and rsync usage

Usage:

scp [[user@]from-host:]source-file [[user@]to-host:][destination-file]

 

 

scp -r miguel@10.1.2.2:/home/miguel/ miguel@10.1.2.3:/home/miguel/

 

 

Resume the transation:

如果因为某些原因，传送中断，但又不想重新传可以用rsync

rsync --partial --progress myFile remoteMachine:dirToPutIn/

The “–partial” argument is what does the trick. I added “–progress”because I like to see how the transfer is going; rsync understandablydoesn’t show this by default as it is mostly used for purposes whichdon’t require live progress reporting (e.g. scheduled backups).

 

 

       I mirror a directory between my "old" and "new" ftp sites with the command:

       rsync -avz -e ssh --delete ~ftp/pub/samba nimbus:"~ftp/pub/tridge"

       This is launched from cron every few hours.

-a archive mode

-v verbose

-z compress file data during the transfer
