tar.xz

To compile a new kernel, I downloaded a linux-4.10.1.tar.xz package.
The method to unpack it is under below:

$xz -d ***.tar.xz

$tar -xvf  ***.tar

This package is double-packed. One is xz, other one is tar. Or we can do this by only one command as:

$tar xvJf  ***.tar.xz
