How to Build QEMU on Ubuntu and on WSL

To Build QEMU on Ubuntu 14.04

1. Where to get QEMU?

GITHUB repository is https://github.com/qemu/qemu.git

2. QEMU needs GLIB, where to get it?  Following is the link.

ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/glib

or

http://download.gnome.org/sources/glib

or

>sudo apt install libglib2.0-dev

3. QEMU needs pixman, where to get it?

>sudo apt-cache search pixman

>sudo apt-get install libpixman-1-dev

 

You may need other library or tools, find out the solution when the problem occurs.

 

Start to build:

1. build GLIB. In GLIB there is a doc 'INSTALL', read it.

>./configure

>make

>sudo make install

2. build QEMU, there is a doc 'README', read it.

>git clone https://github.com/qemu/qemu.git

>cd qemu

>mkdir build

>cd build

>../configure

>make

>sudo make install

 

To build QEMU on WSL, we just need following steps which are listed above:

1. Clone QEMU

2. install GLIB by apt

3. Build QEMU
