Tips on upgrading DPM 7.6 for WebSphere Portal to DPM 8.0 for WebSphere Portal

VCM has a significant change from 7.6 to 8.0, the upgrade process has been provided. But for DPM part, you only can find document of how do you install it, but nothing about upgrade is mentioned in document of DPM for WebSphere Portal. I try to do an upgrade from DPM 7.6 for WPS to DPM 8.0, and get some experiences.

 

1 TAS is a part and foundation of DPM, in Vignette TAS 8.0, there is a new web module contentapi.war, which requires web context contentapi, however, this web context has been used content_j2ee.war which from WebSphere Portal. VCM /content preview won't work without this module, and all floating/editing menu on DPM pages gone without this module, what I am doing is disalbe WebSphere Portal content_j2ee.war and deploy a full package of TAS8.0. This would make TAS work well, but we don't understant what is the impact on WebSphere Portal side.

 

2 Configuration difference, VCM upgrade is not going to automatically upgrade changes DPM configuration in configuration console, when VCM upgrade finished,  you need mannually change configruation on configuration console.

 

3 vgn-ext-templating-cma.war has been removed from DPM for WebSphere Portal package, those implementation classes has been considered as CMA extensions and delivered with VCM.
