Log is the most important part for testing. Log could help you rebuild the environment, and help you record the runtime exception. Log is like the evidence of crime scene. If automation test doesn’t provide enough log information, it will be very hard to figure out where the problem is and what the problem is.
For any test cases, the test result should be pass or fail. There is no gray area between them. For manager, what they want to see is a green bar said pass, but a dedicated tester should care more about that. Tester is the person who is responsible for the quality of product. His/Her job is to find the defects of the product before it releases. Some people misunderstood testers’ job, and they force them to give them visual stuff to see. That is the most ridiculous request I have heard, especially when this request is from a developer. What I can say is the only thing I could show you is bug.
