Module: DESN 1174 Digital Fashion - 20 Credits

Semester: 2

Project Status: 50% of Module Status

You are required to build a portfolio (A3) presenting design outputs developed to a professional level.

Please be aware of that all designs are your own original and completely new and you cannot include any design submitted for this and other modules.

All original design files should be uploaded on Onedrive folder shared with individual students.

Your portfolio needs to demonstrate a professional and creative approach, both in content and layout. Hand in your portfolio in PDF file format through Minerva.

Design Tasks

You are required to apply your knowledge and techniques you learn to develop your own creative outcomes and demonstrate your problem-solving skills. The outputs and processes of design tasks should be fed into creative outcomes and reflective logs in the portfolio.

Carefully read the following instruction of each task.

The advanced technology has created a new form of fashion and demand such as virtual fashion and digital consumption. Individuals and organisations are building their presence in digital domain, and such phenomenon has led growing number of fashion brands to produce virtual fashion for metaverse and NFTs.

Consider yourself as a contemporary fashion designer in a design team of a fashion company who constantly works with various departments and liaise with global factories. Your design team has been instructed to develop a virtual collection for Dubit

* Tasks 1 & 2 below require outcomes conceptual in 2D form. Design development of virtual fashion often involves the similar process to physical design development, but the designs will be visualised in a form. of 3D virtual clothing as products. You do not need to produce 3D garment but concept for this project, however, feel free to support your idea using CLO 3D if  you would like.

Photoshop

Task 1. The chief designer has instructed you to develop a mood board to present creative design concept based on dream as inspiration for virtual fashion development. Your mood board will be used to visually communicate with the design DESN 1174 Digital FashionR ers in your team and other  departments.

Create a mood board based on the requirements below:

- Your chosen concept - Collect and use a minimum of 10 images

- Clear & effective visual communication (high resolution)

- Document size: A3 - Use various editing, transforming and

- Document resolution: 72 selection tools

- Apply more than 2-layer blend modes

- Include a colour palette

* This mood board will direct the concept of task 2 & 3.

Photoshop

Task 2. Based on the mood board you created, your team needs to present illustrations of virtual outfits as a part of the collection development process. In addition, the marketing department has contacted your team to ask if they can use the illustrations for digital promotion (adverts, editorial and etc). As a member of the design team, you are required to generate a creative and inspiring illustration of a virtual outfit meeting the following requirements:

- Illustration of a full body (from head to toe - Professionally cleaned

& facial expression) - Fully coloured

- Full-coordination (including hairstyle, - Apply shading effects

shoes & accessories) - Render minimum of one digital print

- Clear garment shape & details design (you can use design form. task 4)

- Document size: A3 - Use at least one customised brush

- Document resolution: 72

Illustrator

Task 3. Your team now needs to create technical drawings in the spec sheet to move onto the sampling stage. Develop an outfit based on Task 1 inspiration and create technical drawings of two full outfits (tops and bottoms) to provide a pattern cutter and manufacturer with a clear understanding of garment structure and details. Clarity and accuracy of your drawings are the keys because a single mistake in technical drawing could cause an extra sampling stage and accordingly huge delay in the overall production and distribution process. Requirements are:

- Technical drawings of one full outfit (top - Professionally cleaned

and bottom) - Adding button and zipper

- Front and back of each garment - Applying brush techniques

- Clear garment shape & details

* The outfit does not need to be the same outfit of task 2
