Isis was the sister and wife of Osiris, God of the Dead, and mother of Horus, God of Sky. Isis usually wore cow horns with the sun disk in between. Isis herself was considered as Goddess of Magick, of Kingship, the Moon and Motherhood Goddess, who protected her son Horus from snakes. Thus she also protected mortal children. Isis was the most famous goddess of ancient Egypt. Isis was revered as the "Great Enchantress" and protected Osiris after death. Her magic was allied to the wisdom of Thoth and was given to mankind as a skill of healing. Isis performed, for the first time in history, the rites of embalmment to restore Osiris to eternal life.
