There's some function in R could help us to display data:
plot() could be used to draw two vectors
contour() to create a contour plot
persp() could draw a perspective plot of a surface
image() generate a heat map
abline() draw a line in a plot to help making the data clearly
> weights <- c(300, 200, 100, 250, 150)
> prices <- c(9000, 5000, 12000, 7500, 18000)
> plot(weights, prices)
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"></span><pre name="code" class="plain"> plot(weights, prices, pch = as.integer(types))
legend("topright", c("gems", "gold", "silver"), pch = 1:3)
There are some attributes in plot() function, which are very important in drawing pictures.
x assigns the x axis
y assigns the y axis
xlab -- the title of X axis
ylab -- the title of Y axis
col -- the colour of lines -- "red" , "blue", "black".....
type -- the style of the line
ylim -- the range of Y axis
legend(): Could be used to add legends to a map, illustrating the symbols.
x,y -- the location of legend
legend -- the content of legend
col -- the same as col attribute in plot() function
pch -- the plotting symbols appearing in the legend
lty -- the line types and widths for lines appearing in the legend
Then I will show some demo here. "volcano" is a data set 87*61, which is a digitized map.
contour(volcano)
> persp(volcano)
> persp(volcano, expand = 0.2)
> image(volcano)
