Factory of factories
Sometimes, you might need more than one factory to create objects of a similar nature. For example, say you’re dealing with Swing’s pluggable look-and-feel (the graphical Java package) across several different platforms. You might want to create the same application using a different look-and-feel for each, so you might want to create a number of different factories.
Example 1:
Consider a user interface toolkit that supports multiple look-and-feel standards, such as Motif and Presentation Manager. Different look-and-feels define different appearances and behaviors for user interface "widgets" like scroll bars, windows, and buttons. To be portable across look-and-feel standards, an application should not hard-code its widgets for a particular look and feel.
