Symptoms

Agent fails to start:

>./emctl start agent 
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 10.2.0.2.0. 
Copyright (c) 1996, 2006 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved. 
exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program /u00/app/oracle/product/agent10g/bin/emdctl because of the following errors: 
           0509-150 Dependent module /u00/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/lib/libttsh10.a(shr_ttsh10.o) could not be loaded. 
           0509-103 The module has an invalid magic number. 

Cause

LIBPATH was not correctly set.

emdctl is a 32bit application and should load $ORACLE_HOME/lib32/libttsh10.a
$ORACLE_HOME/lib32 must be listed before $ORACLE_HOME/lib in LIBPATH definition.

Solution

To implement the solution, complete the following steps:

1. Backup and edit AGENT_HOME/bin/commonenv

* commonenv sets the agent environment variables at startup

2.  Add the LIBPATH environment variable:

export LIBPATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib32:$LIBPATH

3.  Start the agent:  emctl start agent
