The major problem with communication is the illusion that it has occurred.
We get tunnel vision, focus on what's right in front of us, and hope that disaster won't strike as a result.
Keep it short, keep it relevant, and keep it fun.
(1) Condense all of the requirements and success criteria into a one-page 'Project Success Scorecard' (2) Simple and one-page flow chart high-level timeline (3) grab the attention - a life-size cardboard figure, a screensavor - one-page timeline to restroom - poetry - joke (4)
A project leader with an addiction to email is destined for trouble.
In my opinion, email is a data transmission tool.
Limit each email to one topic, clearly labeled in subject line, and put 'Action Requested' in the subject if needed.
Don't even think about sending anything remotely sensitive or emotional in an email.
Don't play email ping-pong.
Communication is aboslutely essential for project success, so make sure you communicate early, often, and effectively.
