Purpose

The purpose of this document is to compile questions relating to Availability, Install and Setup of standard Asia/Pacific Localizations. This document does not cover questions relating to India Localizations, Consulting or Third Party Localizations.

Questions and Answers

What are Standard Localizations?

A localization feature is a piece of functionality provided to meet the legal requirements or business processes of a country or region.

All standard localization features are provided with the standard product software. They are documented, installed, supported and upgraded in the same way as the standard applications. These are basically created/provided by Oracle Applications Development.

Not only are there country specific features but there are also Product Localizations for a particular region, known as Regional Localizations. These Regional Localizations are detailed in the Oracle Common Country Features User Guide.

Are Standard Localizations available for all countries in the Asia/Pacific region?

No..Some countries do not have Product Localization features, either because the standard product is generally able to meet their requirements or because those requirements are beyond the scope of our current localizations offering (e.g. Malaysia).

How do I find if there's any Standard Localizations available for a specific country?

A quick way to find this is, Open the Oracle Financials for Asia/Pacific User Guide Release 12 and look for the country you are interested in. If there is NO mention of the country you are looking for, there is NO Standard Localizations available for that country for reasons mentioned in the previous question.

What countries are currently included as part of the Standard Asia/Pacific Localization offering?

Currently, as per the latest Oracle Financials for Asia/Pacific User Guide Release 12.1 Part No. E13419-02 April 2009, there are Localization offerings for following countries in the Asia/Pacific region:

Australia
China
Japan
Korea
Singapore
Taiwan

How do I install or what patches are required to install the Standard Localizations for a specific country ?

Standard Localizations are standard product features being part of a fresh installation or released via a Maintenance Pack. These features - Financials for Asia-Pacific are already available in the base code of the Applications Release and no separate patches are required to install these; but the country-specific functionality needs to be activated/licensed through the License Manager in OAM (Oracle Applications Manager).

Now that I have licensed the country-specific functionality, what next?

Next steps would be to follow the setup tasks listed in the Oracle Financials Country-Specific Installation Supplement and the Financials for Asia/Pacific User Guide to complete the setup for the specific country.

What product should I choose when logging a Service Request (SR) against Asia/Pacific Localizations?

When problems are found in reports, forms, packages, profile options etc that start with JA or features documented in the Oracle Financials for Asia/Pacific User Guide, please log a SR against Product Code 989 / Product Description-Financials for Asia/Pacific. Ensure to choose the right component depending on the sub-product/subledger where you encounter the specific issue, say AP/AR/GL.
