When you are talking SIP, you are using SDP. SDP is a key component when handling SIP call.There are several RFCs we need to know:

        RFC 4317 Session Description Protocol (SDP) Offer/Answer Examples
        RFC 3264 An Offer/Answer Model with the Session Description Protocol (SDP)
        RFC 4566 SDP: Session Description Protocol

It will cause many issues if SIP server/VoIP gateway couldn't implement SDP correctly. For example, one way voice. VOS is the worst software

I have ever seen which let VOIP calling into nightmare. Mostly it is because this software has big issue when handling SDP offer/answer.It will

give you a T.38 answer directly and don't know how to recover to SIP re-INVITE when you are offering voice calling.
