Background
The Project Management TL and above Curriculum is designed to enrich the practical skill set of the project
managers and to increase their capabilities, confidence, and rate of success for the assigned projects.
This curriculum has been developed by the Domain Services GPMO and Academy team.
The curriculum document provides information on:
The competencies and the proficiency required to complete various project management tasks
Training available for enhancing the capabilities
Competency Assessment
This curriculum specifically focuses on the associates within GLT. It is expected that this curriculum will be
extended across the HTS Community at a later date with additions if required.
Intended Audience

Project Manager – PM
Senior Project Manager - SPM
Associates who are currently working within HTS GLT and have varying degree of technical/ project
management knowledge and skills in the topics covered in this curriculum.
Associates who are new to HSBC but have varying degree of technical/ project management knowledge and
skills in the topics covered in this curriculum.
Associates who are new to some of the skills/knowledge/technology/tool defined in this curriculum.

Competency Assessment
The Competency Assessment is aimed at achieving the following objectives:
To be able to assess an associate’s current competency level against the required competency level based on
the competencies identified by GPMO Domain.
By way of assessment results be able to provide inputs to GPMO Domain to create roadmap for identifying and
developing associates who may be candidate for higher roles; thus to be able to motivate the associate to
achieve higher competency levels.
To conduct assessments for the identified competencies required for effective job performance
Assessment on Behavioural competencies is currently not in the scope.

Note: For GPMO Domain only Online Question Bank based assessment approach has been implemented.
Interview based assessment, External certification and on the job evaluation are currently at the discretion of the

Online Question bank based assessment
The online question bank based assessment is managed by Academy for GPMO Domain
Duration of the assessment is one hour
Maximum number of questions is 60
Questions type: Objective questions- single choice, Multiple choice with one correct option
Each correct answer has a maximum score of 1
Associates are required to take the assessment at workstations located at Academy office if held at GLT
premises. Where the assessments are held outside GLT premises, the assessments are conducted in a
proctored environment
Validity of the assessment: Two years from the date of successful attempt

Eligibility Criteria
An associate has to qualify as per the pre-requisites mentioned in this Curriculum document in order to attempt
an assessment. The associate's Project Manager has to verify the eligibility and approve the associate's
nomination.
An associate planning to appear for a particular assessment is required to take the respective line manager’s
approval. While registering for the assessment, an approval notification email will be sent to the respective line
manager. The line manager has to approve upon receiving the notification email. Without manager’s approval,
associate will not be able to take the assessment.
An associate, who does not successfully complete the assessment in the first or subsequent attempts, can
appear for the assessment later per his/ her convenience.
It is recommended to complete the relevant trainings before taking the assessment.
Assessment Results
The following rules govern the assessment score recording, storage and broadcast procedures:
The assessment scores will be available to the associate immediately on the screen after selecting the submit
button.
Completing the assessment feedback form is mandatory.
For each assessment the scores will be rated as per the following table:

A certificate is issued to all successful associates for the respective/ attempted assessment. The publishing and
distribution of the certificates is managed by the Academy.
Results and profile report is available on GLMS MyLearning. An associate can view the score and profile report
of the assessment on MyLearning upon completion of the assessment.

Associate’s Development Plan
After an assessment is completed, individual associate can view the result and profile report on GLMS
MyLearning. The profile report contains topic/ subtopic wise score of the associate.
The associate is encouraged to share the detailed profile results to work with their line manager for improving
capabilities. It is expected that the line manager would use this report to create a development plan. The typical
development plan includes
o Identifying training areas
o Development and coaching for associates who have not been successful
o Providing specific feedback and agreeing on a development plan with an end date for action plan
and reassessment date
Academy may also share the profile reports of associates who need improvement with the respective BU head.
It is the responsibility of the respective BU head to ensure that the data shared by the Academy CA team is
used for
o Acknowledging the associates who have been successful in the assessment
o Set the development plans for associates who need improvements
Registration and Nomination
Assessments are conducted based on nomination captured through online registration facility where all GLT
(GLTi, GLTc, GLTb) associates can register for assessments.
An e-mail communication regarding the assessment registration open and close dates is sent to all GLT
Associates.
Registration criteria:
All associates who meet the pre-requisites are eligible for registration
It is recommended that associates keep three calendar months gap between assessments. This is
not mandatory though
The associates must accept the Terms and conditions of the assessment. Terms and conditions
are detailed on Academy SharePoint portal.

Do’s and don’t during the assessment
Associates appearing for the assessment are required to carry GLT ID card on person.
No material, notes, writing pads are allowed at the assessment venue.
Associates are required to be present in person, 15 minutes before the start of the scheduled assessment.
Associates reaching late to the assessment venue are not allowed to attempt the assessment on that
scheduled date/time.
All associates appearing for the assessment are required to switch off communication devices such as Mobile
Phones, PDA’s and laptops.
Associate are not allowed to leave the assessment venue during the assessment i.e. for one hour.
When the assessment is in progress, associates are not allowed to open any other applications such as Lotus
Notes, Sametime, Home drive, and project drive etc. on the machine.

Curriculum Progression Criteria
This curriculum document has four proficiency levels, Learner, Proficient, Professional and Expert, which is
the natural progression path for a learner.
An associate is expected to take all the courses.
An associate has the flexibility to complete the training at their convenience without having to follow a rigid
path, until there is a defined pre-requisite.
Completion Criteria
For successful completion, an associate should score 60% or above in the respective assessment.
The training, project exposure, years of experience, functional competencies and assessments enables the
associate attain the required competency level (Current and future).

Background
The Project Management TL and above Curriculum is designed to enrich the practical skill set of the project
managers and to increase their capabilities, confidence, and rate of success for the assigned projects.
This curriculum has been developed by the Domain Services GPMO and Academy team.
The curriculum document provides information on:
The competencies and the proficiency required to complete various project management tasks
Training available for enhancing the capabilities
Competency Assessment
This curriculum specifically focuses on the associates within GLT. It is expected that this curriculum will be
extended across the HTS Community at a later date with additions if required.

Competency Assessment
The Competency Assessment is aimed at achieving the following objectives:
To be able to assess an associate’s current competency level against the required competency level based on
the competencies identified by GPMO Domain.
By way of assessment results be able to provide inputs to GPMO Domain to create roadmap for identifying and
developing associates who may be candidate for higher roles; thus to be able to motivate the associate to
achieve higher competency levels.
To conduct assessments for the identified competencies required for effective job performance
Assessment on Behavioural competencies is currently not in the scope.

The online question bank based assessment is managed by Academy for GPMO Domain
Duration of the assessment is one hour
Maximum number of questions is 60
Questions type: Objective questions- single choice, Multiple choice with one correct option
Each correct answer has a maximum score of 1
Associates are required to take the assessment at workstations located at Academy office if held at GLT
premises. Where the assessments are held outside GLT premises, the assessments are conducted in a
proctored environment
Validity of the assessment: Two years from the date of successful attempt

Eligibility Criteria
An associate has to qualify as per the pre-requisites mentioned in this Curriculum document in order to attempt
an assessment. The associate's Project Manager has to verify the eligibility and approve the associate's
nomination.
An associate planning to appear for a particular assessment is required to take the respective line manager’s
approval. While registering for the assessment, an approval notification email will be sent to the respective line
manager. The line manager has to approve upon receiving the notification email. Without manager’s approval,
associate will not be able to take the assessment.
An associate, who does not successfully complete the assessment in the first or subsequent attempts, can
appear for the assessment later per his/ her convenience.
It is recommended to complete the relevant trainings before taking the assessment.
Assessment Results
The following rules govern the assessment score recording, storage and broadcast procedures:
The assessment scores will be available to the associate immediately on the screen after selecting the submit
button.
Completing the assessment feedback form is mandatory.
For each assessment the scores will be rated as per the following table:

A certificate is issued to all successful associates for the respective/ attempted assessment. The publishing and
distribution of the certificates is managed by the Academy.
Results and profile report is available on GLMS MyLearning. An associate can view the score and profile report
of the assessment on MyLearning upon completion of the assessment.

Associate’s Development Plan
After an assessment is completed, individual associate can view the result and profile report on GLMS
MyLearning. The profile report contains topic/ subtopic wise score of the associate.
The associate is encouraged to share the detailed profile results to work with their line manager for improving
capabilities. It is expected that the line manager would use this report to create a development plan. The typical
development plan includes
o Identifying training areas
o Development and coaching for associates who have not been successful
o Providing specific feedback and agreeing on a development plan with an end date for action plan
and reassessment date
Academy may also share the profile reports of associates who need improvement with the respective BU head.
It is the responsibility of the respective BU head to ensure that the data shared by the Academy CA team is
used for
o Acknowledging the associates who have been successful in the assessment
o Set the development plans for associates who need improvements
Registration and Nomination
Assessments are conducted based on nomination captured through online registration facility where all GLT
(GLTi, GLTc, GLTb) associates can register for assessments.
An e-mail communication regarding the assessment registration open and close dates is sent to all GLT
Associates.
Registration criteria:
All associates who meet the pre-requisites are eligible for registration
It is recommended that associates keep three calendar months gap between assessments. This is
not mandatory though
The associates must accept the Terms and conditions of the assessment. Terms and conditions
are detailed on Academy SharePoint portal.

Do’s and don’t during the assessment
Associates appearing for the assessment are required to carry GLT ID card on person.
No material, notes, writing pads are allowed at the assessment venue.
Associates are required to be present in person, 15 minutes before the start of the scheduled assessment.
Associates reaching late to the assessment venue are not allowed to attempt the assessment on that
scheduled date/time.
All associates appearing for the assessment are required to switch off communication devices such as Mobile
Phones, PDA’s and laptops.
Associate are not allowed to leave the assessment venue during the assessment i.e. for one hour.
When the assessment is in progress, associates are not allowed to open any other applications such as Lotus
Notes, Sametime, Home drive, and project drive etc. on the machine.

Curriculum Progression Criteria
This curriculum document has four proficiency levels, Learner, Proficient, Professional and Expert, which is
the natural progression path for a learner.
An associate is expected to take all the courses.
An associate has the flexibility to complete the training at their convenience without having to follow a rigid
path, until there is a defined pre-requisite.
Completion Criteria
For successful completion, an associate should score 60% or above in the respective assessment.
The training, project exposure, years of experience, functional competencies and assessments enables the
associate attain the required competency level (Current and future).
