Error 1327 : Invalid drive G: error

Error 1327 : Invalid drive G: error

Jeff Ogden - 04:55pm Dec 11, 2006 Pacific

When
installing, at the point where it looks for disk space. Why does it
insist on looking for drive G:, when there is no such drive. Win XP SP2

(I do have a removeable drive I use for backup. When connected, there is a drive G:)

Error 1327 : Invalid drive G: error

There may be something in your registry saying something is on G:. For

some reason, the My Pictures folder is a popular choice.

Try putting the drive in, at least see if there's a different error.

I would guess you are trying to install it via Remote
Desktop. . .I have had this issue in that situation. . .if I install it
at the local console. . .there is no problem.

Hello,

I get the same error but for S: drive.
I've downloaded the latest Reader from Adobe, try to install and this
comes up after extraction. I have an S: drive, it's one of my network
drives. I've tried to install it from the S: drive but it still doesn't
work. I have just done a clean install of Vista Ultimate and Reader is
one of the first things I've tried to install.

Any ideas?

Hey where's all the Adobe Experts???

I have the same problem like Jeff and Kolin, namely Invalid Drive.

Near the end of installing the Adobe Reader 8 setup...A pop up window
appears as follows : " Error 1327: Invalid Driv:F:/ " and setup is
interrupted and asks to install at a later time.

I have used external drive before Phantom G or F drive I am not sure

but the ED is unhoooked during the installing operation.

My comp is window xp Sp2.

What do you think could be the real problem? Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Error 1327 : Invalid drive G: error

Kenny,

The installer is picking up information possibly from a previous

installation of Reader. Try to use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup

tool to remove anything from any previous Reader or Acrobat

installation. Then try to re-install.

Kolin,

I'm in same situation as you. I have a
mapped network drive where I keep my picture and music files so they
can be shared easily by other computers in my home network. In my case
it's at R:/ I have a clean install of Vista Ultimate and Office 2000
and just downloaded Adobe Reader 8. When trying to install Reader, I
get the error:

Error 1327 : Invalid drive R

I did a
registry search and the only references I found to R:/ are all valid,
(location for My Pictures and My Music and some .pst folders for
Outlook). I'm tempted to remove all these links and unmap the R drive
to do the install.

I've had to remove all the links you mentioned, it
makes that "folder" pointless. It's clearly a Vista issue that needs
fixing. It's a pain, most things install fine but the one or two don't
and I have to my My Docs to C: instead of S:, install then map it back.
Annoying.

Thanks for your reply.

This is not only a Vista problem. I have seen it on
Win2k server before. . .when network user profile wasn't available for
some reason. . .usually happens when trying to install in a remote
desktop session.

For the Vista Users,

If you have your
documents mapped to a network drive quite a few install routines
currently fail with this error message. When Vista is placed into an
Elevated Permissions State by the UAC (the prompt you normally just
click the Ok Button) you will not have access to the mapped network
drives previously mapped.

You can test this by opening the
Command Prompt as Administrator and doing a Net Use. You will see that
there are no listed mapped drives. It seems Vista sections the mapped
drives between the two priviledge levels.

You can get around this but mapping the drive in the Command Prompt as Administrator. Seems a bit qwuirky but it works.

The better method seems to be to use the UNC path name directly and not use mapped network drives at all.

I hope this helps.

Once I mapped the drive using Net Use in a command
prompt run as adminstrator, I had to map the network drive again in
Windows Explorer because the 'normal' user could not see the mapped
network drive that the administrator mapped.

Detail of What I Did:

   1. Disconnected the previously mapped network drive from Windows Explorer.

   2. Right clicked on Command Prompt in the Start Menu and selected Run As Administrator.

   3. Typed "Net Use y: //servername/sharename"

   4. Exited out of the command prompt

   5. Opened Windows Explorer

   6. Clicked 'Map network drive' menu item

   7. Selected the y: drive and typed //servername/sharename into the Folder box.

Not very intuitive, but it works!

EASIER
WAY: If you already have a mapped network drive, just do steps 2-4 and
it should work...essentially you map it once for the user, once for the
administrator. (can't we all just share stuff and get along?)

I tried just connecting a flash drive to occupy the
offending drive letter. It then seemed to install Adobe Reader (7.0.9.
under Windows XP) in the usual place on the C drive quite happily once
reassured that it could have the other drive if it wanted. I'm not an
expert so can't be sure this has got round all the problems but it
seemed to work OK

Hi folks,

I had this error 1327 problem while
attempting to load several Adobe programs and after researching it and
reading many comments, I downloaded RegCure and had it clean out my
registry and eveything now runs and loads fine. I chose RegCure.com
because it was listed by one reviewer as their #1 choice, and by
another as their 2nd choice. I am not associated with any software
company.

Cleaning out the registry periodically may be a good idea anyway. Oh, I am using VISTA on a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop.

Kirk
