1. Introduction
I was confronted with problems about inserting citations when writing my paper. In this paper, I will make a conclusion of how the citation is added into my paper. The link to the video I learnt from is here: how to use mendeley to manage citation.
2. Software and Plug-in Preparation
The software we use here is Mendeley Reference Manager. The official download link is here. Click download and download for windows.
Sequentially, install the software as instructed.
Then open the downloaded software and click on tools
After that, install the plug-in into MS word following the instructions.
3. Prepare citation library
3.1 Search paper for citation
There are plenty of methods to search papers. My favorite way is from IEEE xplore, sign in using my Institution without charge, and download papers in PDF form freely. As for citation, click cite this and choose the format of Bibtex, as is shown in the following figure.
Another popular data set is Science Direct. After signing in and choose the interested paper, and click on Add to Mendeley. Then it can be cited.
3.2 Add the chosen papers into your library
First, make sure you have built a new collection or group.
Then click on organize and add to new collection.
Finally, choose the collection or group you want to manage.
3.3 Add bib library into Mendeley
Click on Add New Files and choose Import Library. Then you can choose Bibtex Files from your PC.
4 Insert the Citation into Your MS Word File
First, click on citation and Mendeley Cite.
Then choose and update the citation style. Since this paper is aimed at EI conferences, I chose the IEEE style.
After that, click on References and select one wanted reference. Then click Insert One Citation, and the citation will be added to the current position of your cursor.
After the insertion, put your cursor on where you want to insert the detailed description, and click on More and Insert Bibliography. Then your citation is inserted successfully!
