Title: Login failure in Lync 2010 or Office Communicator 2007 R2 (on Window XP SP3 andWindows Vista Machines)
ERROR :
While login onOffice Communicator 2007/R2/Lync 2010 client in Lync Server 2010 enviornmentyou might face login failure issue with the below error messages.
1. Lync was unable to sign in. Please verify yourlogon credentials and try again. If problem continues, please contact yoursupport team.
2. Cannotsign in to Communications Service. You may have entered your sign-in name,username, or password incorrectly, or the authentication service may beincompatible with this version of the program. If your sign in information iscorrect and the problem persists, please contact your system administrator.
This issue happens on Window XP SP3 and WindowsVista Machines.
CAUSE :
Thisis caused by a mismatch in the minimum requirements for encryption between thePC and Lync infrastructure.
FIX :
1. Click on Start> Run, then type gpedit.mscand press enter.
2. It will open below screen.
3. Now in the right pane expand ComputerConfiguration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > LocalPolicies > Security Options.
4. Double click on Network Security : “Minimum Session Security for NTLM SSP based(Including secure RPC) clients”. It will open the screen similar to thebelow depending upon the version of your Windows Operating system.
Bydefault the “Required 128-bit encryption”box would be showing unchecked. Check this box and now the screen will looklike below.
5. Click on “OK” and then restart your computer.
6. After the computer is restarted you should beable to login to Office Communicator 2007 R2 or Lync 2010 client.
