Collaborating on the Platform

Learn how to work smarter with Connect Chat. Follow records and add updates right from the chat window. Create conversations from Visual Task Boards and collaborate with the board members. Share records directly in conversations.

Working with Records in Connect Chat

A. User presence - See which users are viewing the record.

B. Follow/Unfollow - Click the Follow button to create and join a conversation about this record. The conversation appears in the Connect sidebar. When you are following a record, click the button again to leave the record conversation and remove it from the sidebar.

C. Comments and work notes - In record conversations, your messages are posted to the record as comments or work notes. Click this button to switch between comments and work notes.

Mentioning Users

A. @mention - Type the @ character, followed by a name to @mention someone in the activity stream and get their attention.

Connect with Visual Task Boards

A. Connect with board members - Create a conversation about the board and automatically add all board members as conversation members.

B. Real-time updates - Track board activity in the conversation as tasks are added or moved from one lane to another.

C. See details on a board - Jump directly to a task card on the board to view more details.

D. Share a board - To share a task board with your peers, drag a board from the My Task Boards page to a conversation. Note that conversation members will only be able to access the board if they are members of the board.

Sharing a Record in a Conversation

There are several easy ways to share a record in a Connect Chat conversation. Keep in mind that access rules may prevent some users from opening certain records you share.

A. Share a record from a list - Drag a record link from a list and drop it in a conversation.

B. Share a record from a form - Drag the record title and drop it in a conversation.

C. Share a record from the chat window - Enter a record number in a conversation and send it as a message.

D. View shared records - Click a record preview in a conversation to open the record.
