Working with Cards and Lanes

Learn how to work with Visual Task Board cards and lanes.

Adding a Card

A. You can add a new card by clicking the Add Task button at the bottom of each lane.

B. You can also add a card by clicking the more options icon in the top right corner of a lane and selecting Add Task.

Moving a Card to a Different Lane

A. Drag a card and drop it in the target lane. Note that, for guided boards, rules on the associated table may prevent you from moving a card to certain lanes or may prompt you to fill in additional fields to complete the move.

Adding Assignees and Labels to Cards

A. Adding assignees - Assignees represent ownership of task cards and the associated records. To assign a card to someone, drag and drop a user from the quick panel to the card. You can add a user as a primary or additional assignee. There can be only one primary assignee but there is no limit to the number of additional assignees per card. Note that, for flexible and guided boards, assignment rules on the associated table may restrict who you can assign a card to.

B. Adding labels - Labels help categorize tasks and visually distinguish them on your task board. To label a card, drag and drop a label from the quick panel to the card.

Removing Cards from a Board

A. Remove one card - Point to a card and click the X icon in the upper right corner. In the dialog box that appears, click the Archive button. When you archive a card, it is removed from the board but not deleted. You can restore archived cards later if you change your mind.

B. Remove all cards in a lane - Click the more options icon in the upper right corner of a lane and select Archive All Tasks. In the dialog box that appears, click the Archive button.

  1. Click the card you would like to remove.
  2. Click the details tab if it is not already open. Scroll down to view more options.
  3. Under Tools, click Archive. When you archive a card, it is removed from the board but not deleted. You can restore archived cards later if you change your mind.

Moving a Lane

A. Drag a lane by the header and drop it in the desired position.

Hiding or Deleting a Lane

A. Hiding a lane - You can hide a lane by clicking the more options icon in the upper right corner of a lane and selecting Hide Lane. You can show the hidden lanes from the board configuration menu.

B. Deleting a lane - You can delete a lane by clicking the more options icon in the upper right corner of a lane and selecting Delete Lane.

Editing a Flexible or Guided Board's Filter Conditions

A. Editing the board filter - You can edit the table query that defines which cards appear on a flexible or guided board. Click the board information icon and click Edit Filter to change the query.

B. Changing the lane field - You can change which field defines the lanes for a flexible or guided board. Click the board information icon and select an option for the Lane Field. If you select a lane field for a flexible board, it becomes a guided board.
