Mark Recchi Comments About Max Pacioretty's Injury Hold NHL Back

veteran.

At 43 many years of age, and with 21 seasons below his belt, it's hard to believe that Recchi would make this sort of the foolish comment, even if he do believe it. The only potential save for Recchi is that he was clearly goaded to the comment but, as a veteran, he should positively have regarded substantially better than to throw fuel on a bonfire.

I think Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette said it best when he named Recchi's comments irresponsible and offensive.

Damn straight, Dave!

With the recent suspension of Matt Cooke for his elbow for that head of the Rangers' Ryan McDonough, and general managers, fans, media and game fanatics as well calling for a change, Recchi's comments exhibits some of the remaining divide between all those who buy into today's medical knowledge about concussions, and all those who are still lagging behind.

At question in all of this is the quickness with which Pacioretty seems to be recovering from a serious concussion and fractured fourth cervical vertebra in his neck.

I'm not a doctor, but from everything I have read about concussions, the severity is judged in the length of your time that somebody is knocked unconscious, and not in the best after effects. So a serious concussion means that the brain severely impacted the skull, knocking the player out for an extended time period of your time but would make has no impact near to the recovery time.

The funny thing about concussions is that no two will be the same, and each person reacts and recovers along a diverse timeline, the causes for that are still not clear for a variety of doctors.

For some, a concussion results in extended time headaches from a vareity of places like brightness sensitivity and actual physical activity. although others call for a year or additional for recovery.

Others still, like Pacioretty, inexplicably have small to no after-effects from the concussion.

Which begs the question, just for that reason that the player doesn't endure after-effects of the concussion, does this mean that they or even the health care staff members are embellishing the injury?

Absolutely not! and also to state that they are if you want to obtain a player, in this situation Chara, suspended is absurdly ignorant and completely misses the point.

When a player is injured as badly as Pacioretty was, whose fractured vertebra was millimeters apart from being a paralyzing or lifestyle ending injury, the concern has to be the health of the injured player and not a suspension for that hitter.

When a player's lifestyle hangs inside balance, people should positively remember that hockey is just a game. There are substantially additional essential factors in life, and the fact the Pacioretty seems to be suffering minimal ill results and could possibly be back again in time for that playoffs is extremely fortunate.

This is 2011 people, not 1971, and it's time for that game and it's backward thinking game fanatics to obtain using the instances before someone actually dies near to the ice.
