Install VirtualBox 4.2.12 on Windows 7 and also Ubuntu 12.04 64bit virtual OS.
The problem is that monitor resolution is low and cannot be set to be higher.
Solution: install guest additions on virtual Ubuntu as this post
1. right ctrl ( host ) + c to virtual machine menu
2. Devices-Install Additions automatically
3. Click on Install Guest Additions… from the Devices menu, then choose to browse the content of the CD when requested.
4. sudo sh /media/VBOXADDITIONS_4.2.12_84980/VOoxLinuxAdditions.run
5. once the installation is complete, reboot the machine.
6. When the machine starts again, Guest Additions service will work automatically.
7. Settings-Display-Video Memory: 16MB -Monitor Count: 2
And the maunual is more comprehensive.
