Apps/Dia

Welcome to Dia's new homepage. Dia is a GTK+ based diagram creation program for GNU/Linux, MacOS X, Unix, and Windows, and is released under the GPL license. Dia is roughly inspired by the commercial Windows program 'Visio,' though more geared towards informal diagrams for casual use.

The Python Tutorial

Python is an easy to learn, powerful programming language. It has efficient high-level data structures and a simple but effective approach to object-oriented programming. Python’s elegant syntax and dynamic typing, together with its interpreted nature, make it an ideal language for scripting and rapid application development in many areas on most platforms. The Python interpreter and the extensive standard library are freely available in source or binary form for all major platforms from the Python Web site, and may be freely distributed. The same site also contains distributions of and pointers to many free third party Python modules, programs and tools, and additional documentation.

Lisp (programming language)

The interchangeability of code and data also gives Lisp its instantly recognizable syntax. All program code is written as s-expressions, or parenthesized lists. A function call or syntactic form is written as a list with the function or operator's name first, and the arguments following; for instance, a function f that takes three arguments might be called using (f arg1 arg2 arg3). Aptana Studio — Advanced Python 0.3 documentation

Aptana Studio is an IDE - integrated development environment - based on the Eclipse framework. It provides powerful tools for exploring, understanding, and refactoring your code. Because Aptana Studio is Eclipse + a plugin, in class I may refer to "Aptana” and "Eclipse” interchangeably. Unless explicitly noted, both terms refer to the combination of Eclipse framework + Aptana Studio plugin. Aptana’s Python support was formerly a separate Eclipse plugin called PyDev. PyDev was purchased by Aptana and folded into Aptana Studio.
