Linux文件与文件夹操作

The structure of the file system of LINUX is a tree

Some info

  • /: root directory
  • ~: substitute of the main directory

Distinguish the root dir and main dir. Generally the main dir is /home/the_name_of_main_dir, where the first / refers to the root dir

  • If the directory we refer to is in the current directory, we can use relative path, such as home/administrator when the current directory is the root directory. At the moment we can omit / at the beginning, which means root directory

  • If we want to use absolute path, we have to tape that /home/administrator, where we have to use / at the beginning as root directory

  • . and ..: every new directory would include these two directories. Actually the . is the path of current directory and the .. is the path of parent directory.

Commands

  • pwd: display the working directory (current directory)
  • mkdir directory_name: create a directory
  • mkdir -p dir1/dir2/.../dirn: create cross-leveled directory
  • rmdir dir: delete the empty dir
  • rm -r dir: delete the nonempty dir
  • mv filename dir1 dir2 ... dirn: move filename into dir1 dir2 ... dirn
