张正友

世界著名的计算机视觉和多媒体技术的专家，ACM Fellow，IEEE Fellow，“Who's who in the world”成员。

1998年3月加入微软研究院雷德蒙总部，在立体视觉、三维重建、运动分析、图像配准、摄像机自标定等方面都有开创性的贡献。参与了多项欧洲及法国的计算机视觉和机器人重大项目，在Siggraph等国际学术会议和国际刊物上发表论文100余篇。

近年来，主要从事人机交互和远程实景临场等领域的一些核心技术研究。他发明的平板摄像机标定法在全世界被普遍采用，被称之为“张氏方法”。他参与开发的圆桌系统（一个360度的全景视频系统）微软已于2007年10月作为正式产品由比尔盖茨推出。他发明的视频回声抵消技术解决了用于远程交互的摄像机-投影仪系统中固有的问题。他主持研发的多传感器音频增强技术，显著改善音频质量和语音识别率。

浙江大学信息与电子工程系本科、法国巴黎第十一大学计算机博士，毕业后在法国INRIA(计算机科学与控制国家研究院)从事研究，日本国际基础电讯研究院（ATR）人类信息处理研究实验室任特邀研究员.

It is with a mixed feeling that I share with you that I just resigned from Microsoft after 20 wonderful years. I’m moving back to China to chase a new, actually old, dream in robotics, and also to be closer to my parents.

今天，我与你们分享的是一种复杂的感情。我刚刚离开了我曾经工作过二十年的微软公司，确实是二十年的美好时光。我决定回到中国去追求一个新的、实际上也是一直以来的机器人的梦想，这里还有我的父母。

Microsoft has given me so much over the past 20 years and I consider it as my second family. It was my privilege to have worked alongside so many greatest people in the world. I am very grateful to Harry Shum and Rick Szeliski for having hired me into Microsoft Research, to Rick Rashid who founded Microsoft Research and hosted my welcome lunch when I realized that this Rashid is actually the same Rashid whose PhD work (light display tracking) was cited in my PhD thesis, and to Dan Ling who called me multiple times to convince me not to worry about losing my tenured position in France. Thanks also go to Xuedong Huang and Hsiao-Wuen Hon who "pushed" me to join Microsoft Research while visiting ATR in Japan where I was spending my sabbatical.

过去的二十年，微软给予了我很多，我甚至已经把微软看成我的第二个家。在微软，同许多世界上最伟大的人一起工作是我的荣幸。我非常感激Harry和Rick把我招到微软研究院！感谢里克·拉希德创立微软研究院并为我举办午餐欢迎宴，宴会中得知里克居然是我博士论文(光显示跟踪)引用到的里克·拉希德！感谢凌丹多次打电话鼓励我不要担心失去了在法国的终身职位！还要感谢黄学东和洪小文在日本访问期间“push”我加入微软研究院。

I am extremely lucky to have a long list of eminent figures as my managers: Anandan, Steve Shafer, Anoop Gupta, Rico Malvar, Alex Acero, Phil Chou, Eric Horvitz, John Platt, Peter Lee, Norm Whitaker, Gurdeep Singh Pall, and Abhi Abhishek. I also closely worked with Sue Dumais on eye gaze tracking. I have learnt so much from each of them over the years. Thank you!!！

I am also privileged to have a wonderful team over the years. Some have worked with me over the entire 20 years. Some have interned with me five times and joined the team eventually. Everyone has contributed to creating a collegiate, energetic, productive, team-spirited environment. I am also lucky to have worked with so many talented interns, and many of them already became distinguished professors and researchers.

我也有幸拥有一支优秀的团队：有些人已经和我一起工作了整整20年，有些人先后与我互动5次并最终加入了我的团队。团队每个人都致力为创建一个充满学术氛围、有活力的、高效的、有团队精神的环境而努力。我也很幸运能与许多有才华的实习生一起工作，他们中的许多人已经成为了杰出的教授和研究人员。

I have always been interested in combining theoretical research with practical applications and in making impact on real world, and Microsoft Research is a perfect place for me. Besides research contributions, I am proud to have contributed to dozen Microsoft products (with 8 Microsoft Ship-It Awards), from the first-ever one-click auto-fix photo editor in Windows XP, to Xbox Avatar Development Kit, to advanced video conferencing device RoundTable, to many features in Office Communicator/Lync/Skype for Business (including smart framing and multichannel acoustical echo cancellation), to Kinect sensor calibration, to Avatar Kinect, to Office Lens (a mobile document/whiteboard app with over 20 million users), to active camera switching in Surface Hub, and to the Emotion APIs in Microsoft Cognitive Services.

我一直有兴趣将理论研究与实际应用结合起来、对现实世界产生影响，微软研究院对我来说堪称是一个完美的场所。除了研究方面的贡献，我很自豪地参与打造了多款微软产品，先后八次获得“微软一等奖”。参与的产品包括：Windows XP第一个一键自动修复照片编辑器, Xbox阿凡达开发工具包,先进的视频会议设备“RoundTable”, 让Office/ Lync / Skype等优化业务的很多功能改进，Kinect传感器校准,《阿凡达》Kinect, Office镜头(移动文档/用户过2000万的白板app),激活Surface Hub的镜头切换，微软认知服务的情感API等等。

Microsoft Research is also a rare place that people feel safe to switch research domains. In 2001, I had an itch to learn more about audio and speech. I am grateful to Xuedong Huang and Dan Ling for their confidence. With their encouragement, I left the computer vision community completely for 6 years and focused on speech enhancement, speaker recognition/verification, multimodal mobile assistant, and microphone arrays. 

微软研究院也是一个很罕见的地方，研究员可以自由地切换研究领域。2001年，我渴望更多地了解音频和语音。我很感激学东和凌丹的信任，在他们的鼓励下，我离开过去6年的计算机视觉社区领域,投入到专注于语音增强,声音识别/验证、多模式移动助理和麦克风阵列的研究。

For the past 5 years, I developed an interest in internal entrepreneurship, and have successfully incubated two projects: smart meeting room system and ambient intelligence. The latter had very successful reviews during the past month with Bill Gates and with our CEO Satya Nadella. At the end of the review, Bill told us that we are chasing the same dream as his, the best comment you could expect.

在最近的五年，我对内部创业产生了浓厚的兴趣，并成功地孵化了两个项目－－智能会议室系统和环境智能。环境智能的项目在上月获得了Bill和我们CEO Satya Nadella非常好的评价。在项目尾声时，Bill告诉我们，“我们正在追逐的是和他一样的梦想”，这是你们能想到的最好的评价。
