I saw the movie An Inconvenient Truth last Saturday. An Inconvenient Truth is a documentary film; it records that Al Gore's campaign to make the people aware of the issue of global warming problem worldwide.  (Al Gore, the man almost became the u.s. president)

 

In the movie, Al Gore presents a lot of evidence about global warming. One thing makes me impressive is the large ice core samples that scientists take to trace the history of the Earth’s temperature and CO2 ratings at the North Pole. Al Gore shows a graph: Temperature tracks CO2 almost exactly. Those were the six ice ages we’ve had over the past 600,000 years. CO2 in the atmosphere goes up and so does the temperature, the CO2 catching the sun’s radiation inside our earth, consequently, it heats the Earth. As a result, the higher temperature, the quicker glaciers melting. It leads to sea-level rise, and then the city is a flood. It sounds terrible. But I do not entirely agree with him. Al Gore talks about global warming like college lecture. His presentation is so slick and I do think he tends to overstate the case “CO2 in the atmosphere goes up and so does the temperature”.  Please to notice, scientists don’t come to a conclusion. I remember, about four or three years ago, the 17000 scientists signed the petition that global warming is a myth. I think weather situation is complex. Not just only global warming problem. We have suffered from higher summer temperatures and colder winter temperatures on Shanghai in 2009. A big drought occurred in Yunnan province recently, to the contrary, there was heavy snow in northern cities of china at the same time. The weather becomes unstable, and the demarcation of season becomes unclear and irregular. More and more we see the severe damage on TV such as storms, torrential rain, hurricanes and floods appeared around the world. The frequency of extreme weather is increasing.

 

Anyway, this movie reminded our again, people need a jolt in order to actually do anything for our earth. For this reason, I recommend that you see the movie and take seriously. I think if enough people are aware that it’s really a serious problem to us and our future generation, people will start to think about how to do from themselves to contribute something to our earth.  We should start to choose low-carbon life, like making hybrid cars, using public transportation, and turning off the lights when they are not in use, and trying walking or cycling instead of driving. Just as the Al Gore said in the movie, “this is not a political issue, this is a moral issue.” And everyone has ability to do something to improve the situation to our earth.
