How to capture packet from you i-Device

Just follow below steps to capture packet from your i-Deice,it will be helpful for VPN Connection failed issues. Attached is one CAP filewhich I captured from my ipad, and you can view the file with Wireshark.

 

iOS packet capture

•       iOS5+, Mac OS X only and Xcode 4.3 + iOS 5 SDK

•       Worksfor both 3G and WIFI

•       Createremote virtual interface

rvictl -s <UDID>  Here my ipad’s UDID is :  

•       Ifconfigto check remote virtual interface name

rvi0: flags =3005 <UP,DEBUG,LINK0,LINK1> mtu 0

•       Runtcpdump

tcpdump –i rvi0 –w xxx.pcap

•       Whendone, delete the remote virtual interface

rvictl -x <UDID>
