The vicar is always raising money for one course of another, but he never managed to get enough money to have church clock repaired.The church clock which struck the hours day and night was damaged many years ago and it had been silient ever since. one night ,the vicar wake up with a start:the clock was striking the hours. Looking at his watch, he saw it was one o'clock,but the bell struck thirteen times.Armed with the torch,the vicar went up into the church tower to see what was going on? Under the torchlight, the vicar a sight of a figure which he immediately recognized as Bill Wikons, our local grocer.
"What are you doing up here, Bill?",asked the vicar.
"I'm tring to reqair the bell,"answered the Bill."I came here night after night,In order to give you a surprise."
"you centantly did give me a surprise."said the vicar,"you probably wake up everyone in the village aswhere,still, I'm glad that the clock is woking all right."
"That's a trouble,The clock is working on right,but it always strike at one o'clock thirteen times,and there's nothing I can do about it."said the Bill.
"We'll get used to that,Bill.Thirteen is not as good as one , but it is better than nothing.Now , Let's go downstair and have a cup of tea."
