虚拟化需求增长加速 云计算成驱动力

虚拟化技术的出现已有很长时间。早在60年代，IBM首先在主机上实现了虚拟化技术，随着技术的发展虚拟化拓展到小型机和X86服务器上面。直到最近的十年里，数据中心面临着利用率、IT成本、能源、系统安全和可靠性等棘手问题，虚拟化技术开始受到业内人们的关注。

谈到虚拟化，人们通常会理解为服务器虚拟化，这还不够全面，准确的说是对IT基础设施进行虚拟化，包括：服务器虚拟化、存储虚拟化、桌面虚拟化和桌面虚拟化。在去年VMware把这些虚拟化技术贯穿，称之为“软件定义数据中”。随后众多供应商跳入这个行业，虚拟化技术一时大热。

昨日，全球虚拟化市场领导者VMware公布2013全年的财务报告。报告中显示，2013年VMware收入52.1亿美元创下历史新高，相比2012年收入增长13%。从整年来看，一到四季度里，VMware营收一直都呈上升趋势，分别是：11.9亿美元、12.4亿美元、12.88亿美元、14.8亿美元。

VMware首席财务官Jonathan Chadwick说：“由于各个业务领域的客户需求持续增长，2013年VMware的财务业绩再创新高。我们已经调高了2014年的财务目标，通过帮助客户不断进行业务创新，我们对未来业务的持续增长充满信心。”

虚拟化领域里不止VMware收入增长，如微软、思杰在2013年里也获益颇丰。那么，是哪些原因促使虚拟化市场大放异彩呢?

云计算促进虚拟化市场发展

通常认为，实施虚拟化是迈入云计算的第一步。只有实现虚拟化才能带来最佳的云计算体验，也可以说是，云计算是源于虚拟化的自然演进。如果把云计算单纯理解虚拟化，其实也并为过。

随着云计算的提出到现在正逐渐被IT企业和用户接受，许多公司和行业正在向云迁移，各种云计算应用一一落地。据市场研究机构Gartner发布报告称，2013年全球云计算市场规模已达到1500亿美元，到2015年将增长到1800亿美元，云计算开支将占到全球开支的17%。

云计算应用落地的同时，也促进虚拟化市场的发展。在云计算时代，海量的流量涌入数据中心，必须保证期稳定和安全性，并且避免IT资源大量闲置和浪费。而虚拟化能够帮助数据中心解决利用率和稳定性等诸多问题，所以虚拟化在数据中心的应用也越来越广泛。

CIO对虚拟化技术重视加强

前不久，互联网数据中心IDC发布2013年服务器数据中显示，全球服务器产品和业务销量呈下滑走势，传统服务器中机架式和刀片式服务器市场需求几个季度持续萎靡。

从IT业内迹象来看，去年是大数据元年，加上云计算各项应用落地，本应该需求更多服务器来支持各项应用。但从数据统计来看，服务器采购数量却不断减少。

问题正出于此，虚拟化技术提供了有效的解决方案，为IT用户解决了服务器资源利用率低、应急处理响应时间慢、运营维护成本高等问题。同样这也是CIO逐渐对虚拟化技术认知加强的原因。

IDC研究经理Venu Reddy表示，“虚拟化已经成为2013年的常态。”2013是虚拟化重要的一年，Reddy指出，有关IT经理的教育层次已经达到了一个水平，他们清楚实施虚拟化的合理预期 - 这在推动这项技术的采用是非常关键的一步。

写在最后，由于近几年服务器资源利用率、稳定性和企业IT成本问题加剧，加上云计算的兴起让虚拟化市场得以发展。据有关数据表明，到2014年底，将有60%的新服务器将被虚拟化。从预测来看，今年虚拟化技术热度只会有增无减，让我们拭目以待吧!
