注解 in表方位范围里：表示一个地方在另一个地方的管辖范围内时，要用介词in。如 Guangdong is in the south of China.【翻译】广东在中国南部。 China is in the east of Asia.【翻译】中国在亚洲的东部。
on表两地相独立，且有部分边同一：表示一个地方在另一个地方的范围之外，并且它们有一部分边界地共有，即有邻接处，这时用介词on。如 Hubei is on the north of Hunan.【翻译】湖北在湖南的北部。 Vietnam is on the south of China.【翻译】越南在中国的南部。
to也表示相独立，但是界间有距离：表示一个地方在另一个地方的范围之外，并且它们的边界相隔一定的距离，即没有邻接处，这时用介词to。如 Japan is to the east of China.【翻译】日本在中国的东部。 Jangxi is to the south of Shangdong.【翻译】江西在山东的南部。
