No iPhone 12, but Apple’s virtual event featured the Apple Watch Series 6 and SE, two new iPads, and more. If you missed the live stream, here’s what you need to know.

The tagline for today’s virtual Apple event was “Time Flies,” so it’s no surprise the marquee item was the new and improved Apple Watch. We also got some updated iPads, and a few things in between. ( No iPhone 12 yet, sorry.) If you didn’t have time to watch the whole presentation, read on for the highlights.

On the outside, the Series 6 doesn’t look that much different from its predecessors. But on the inside, there’s a new sensor that measures the oxygen saturation of your blood, also known as SpO2. An always-on altimeter will also display elevation changes in real time; the existing always-on display also gets a boost. Sadly, battery life does not.

If $399 is a little pricey, the new Apple Watch SE features the same display size as Series 6, fall detection, a compass, and an always-on altimeter. It’s a regular Retina display, however, not always-on and there’s no blood-oxygen or ECG apps. It’s also only available in an aluminum finish (the Series 6 offers stainless steel and titanium options). But those trade-offs help keep the price down. You can preorder it now, starting at $279.

Apple’s new Solo Loop bands feature a stretchy design that comes in two designs-soft silicone and braided yarn-and nine different sizes. Apple has a tool on its order page to help you determine which size is best. A Leather Link option, meanwhile, for the Series 6 wraps around the wrist and attaches on the other side via molded magnets.

Apple has long touted the fitness features of its Apple Watch, but now it’s going after at-home fitness enthusiasts with a new on-demand exercise service known as Fitness+. For $9.99 per month (or $79.99 per year), Apple users can tap into classes (Cycling, Treadmill, Rowing, HIIT, Strength, Yoga, Dance, Core, and Mindful Cooldown) on their Apple devices. New classes will be uploaded each week, and data will sync with the Apple Watch.

But there are lower-tier individual and family plans with fewer services. They all roll out this fall.

For kids, parents can use Family Setup to approve the contacts with whom their child can communicate. The service also offers automatic location notifications, so you can, for instance, receive an alert when your child gets home from school. The feature is part of watchOS 7, which rolls out on Sept. 16.

In addition to watchOS 7, Apple will also roll out iOS 14, iPadOS 14 and tvOS 14 on Wednesday. If history is any indication, they’ll probably appear around noon ET once the teams on the West Coast log on. You’ll likely get an alert on your device to upgrade, or you can install manually in your settings menu.

Apple showed off two new iPads, both of which will run the new iPadOS 14. The upgraded iPad Air is the first Apple device to benefit from a 5nm chip manufacturing process, which should result in faster processing speeds. Like the iPad Pro, meanwhile, the new Air drops the Lightning connector for USB-C and drops the home button for a more bezel-less look. Touch ID remains, however, on the top right. Color options include silver, space gray, rose gold, green, and sky blue. It arrives next month starting at $599.

The new iPad isn’t a huge leap in terms of features. The main difference is the A12 Bionic chip, which will increase CPU speeds by 40 percent, and double the graphics performance over last year’s 7th-gen model. Pre-orders for the 8th-gen iPad start today, and it arrives Friday. Students can get it starting at $299.
