[Ubuntu] Modify the "Main Menu" item panel in Ubuntu

when using Ubuntu, we can add a "Main Menu" item to the panel

 

Where to add / modify the menu items? Here we go!

 

In fact that the items of Main Menu are stored under /usr/share/applications , here we will try to add a laucher of eclipse for example.

sudo vim  / usr / share / applications / eclipse.desktop

 

In the file, add these code:

[Desktop Entry]
Name = Eclipse
Comment = c project manage software
Exec =/ opt / eclipse / eclipse
Icon =/ opt / eclipse / icon.xpm
Terminal = false
Type = Application
Categories = GNOME;GTK;Office;Eclipse;

 

Then you will see the icon under the Office now!
