绝命毒师口语精析（6）

Finally, 我们终于完成了绝命毒师第一季第一集的口语精析……

从本期开始，就踏入！！第二集啦

我能明显感觉到，我对这部剧的热爱在一点点地被消磨……

所以从这期开始我就每集做一期，当然每期是不可能涵括所有知识点的，我会整理下来，放在文末，希望感兴趣的童鞋自行了解，欢迎在评论区交流~

1. dime on someone

原句：He thinks maybe you dimed on him.

每个人的青春都是相似的，相信每个班上总有那么个喜欢打小报告的人，不知道你有没有被小报告过呢？

又扯远了，总之我们来聊聊打小报告这件事，英文呢，就叫dime on someone，或者把dime当名词，drop a dime on someone。我最初也莫名其妙，为啥dime还有这个意思？？它不是“十分钱”的意思吗？

直到查到Wiktionary，原来十分钱是用来给警察蜀黍打电话的（手动狗头）。。现在记住了吗，反正我这辈子也忘不了这个词了

除了这个词以外，还有snitch也是非常常用的（实际上比dime更常用，据我所见），再小众点还有leaf blower / tattletale可以了解一哈。

然后顺便，还了解一下各种人物：

• flakes 不靠谱的人;
• Mr. Big Shot 大人物;
• a pushover 没主见的人；
• lucky dog 走运的人;
• a shrinking violet 害羞的人;
• a small fry 小人物;
• a brown-nose 溜须拍马的人;
• a loose cannon 容易惹事的人;
• nit-picker 喜欢较真的人;
• lone wolf 独来独往的人;
• a clean freak 有洁癖的人；;
• a nerd/dork书呆子;
• smarty pants 聪明人；
• high maintenance 难伺候的人；
• a crab 横行霸道的人；
• a goody-goody 伪善的人；
• a heartthrob 迷人的人

2. bust

原句：He was there when I got busted.

另一个表示抓捕的小词，值得注意的是，他和arrest稍有不同。
bust还有一个意思是突袭，比如

bust the apartment
突袭了公寓(捉奸什么的)

要知道一般来说词义之间是有联系的，所以bust表示抓捕也是突然的、出人意料的行动。

3. shut out

> 原句：the worst thing you can do is shut me out.

此处字幕的翻译个人不是很赞同，shut someone out并没有甩掉某人的意思，而是指'not talk to someone, keep everything back from someone'，就是什么事都不告诉某人，瞒着某人。

它的反义词倒是非常容易见到，如下：

be frank
be straight/ straightforward

4. seperate / cross

其实是觉得这里译得非常巧妙啦，分享给大家。

原句：We will go our seperate ways. Our paths will never cross.

你走你的阳关道，我走我的独木桥。我们从此井水不犯河水。

翻译的太巧妙了啊！

语言之间确实有很多交叉的地方额。

5. of one's choice

原句：have photos taken by a photographer of their choice.

表示“自主；自己”，我们通常选用的词是**self， my own **。

这里给大家介绍的是一种介词式的表达。of one's choice表示自主选择。像这种词组还有很多，可以积累一下：

of one's own 自己的
to one's liking 个人喜好（The Great Gatsby中有一段深情的话，从那里学到的哈哈）
to one's taste 合……口味

6. open to

原句：We have got to do something, and I am open to suggestions.

不知道你是否还记得上次提起的'Open offer'，表示提议随时有效(绝命毒师口语精析(4))。
这里的open是不是有一种意愿的意味呢，仿佛在说“只要你……我就愿意……”，此处亦是如此。

open to something 表示'willing to consider something new or accept something new'，即“愿意考虑甚至接受某新的看法/意见”

比如：

Teachers need to be open to children's ideas.
The committee is open to suggestions.

要注意其与open with的区别，Open with表示“开诚布公”，与前文straight 意义相近。

You need to be open with your girlfriend if you want this relationship to last.

剩下的知识点：
