In vSphere 6.0 Update 1 a new UI option has been introduced to easily remove all existing data and partitions from existing storage devices in your host.
If you want to re-use an existing storage device, from the vSphere Web Client, click the ESXi host to process and selectManage > Storage > Storage Adapters. Highlight the device you want to erase then click the eraser icon.
Click OK to proceed.
The process takes few seconds to complete.
Partitions have been removed successfully making the storage device available for other purposes.
This feature allows to easily remove partitions with few clicks without using tricky procedures via CLI.
