Generate key on client:
macOS / Linux: Run the following command in a local terminal:
ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 4096 -f ~/.ssh/id_rsa-remote-ssh
Windows: Run the following command in a local PowerShell:
ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 4096 -f “$HOME.ssh\id_rsa-remote-ssh”
Setup the public key on server: (need openssh-server installed on server
cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub | ssh user@192.168.1.1 “mkdir -p ~/.ssh && cat >> ~/.ssh/authorized_keys && chmod 600 ~/.ssh/authorized_keys”
Config the ssh on client：
Add following to your ~/.ssh/config:
Host rh8
HostName 192.168.1.1
User Tom
IdentityFile ~/.ssh/vscode_rsa
Ssh user@server automatically, no need of password.
