The following method I wrote gives me the time till seconds level.
import java.text.SimpleDateFormat;
import java.util.Calendar;
import java.util.Date;
private String getTime() {
SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-M-yyyy hh:mm:ss");
String dateInString = "22-01-2015 10:20:56";
Date date = sdf.parse(dateInString);
return dateInString;
}
The time that displays with the above logic is 22-01-2020 10:20:56. But I need the time till milliseconds level which should display like this:- 22-01-2020 10:20:56:937. How do I add the milliseconds to the time string output?
# Answer 1
Incredibly it seems that this has never been asked in Stack Overflow yet. As per SimpleDateFormat JavaDocs, you would use the "S" format:
SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-M-yyyy hh:mm:ss:SSS");
# Answer 2
Add „SSS“ to your format string.
Like so:
sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("HH:mm:ss.SSS");
# Answer 3
To show the milliseconds in the time we include “SSS” in the pattern which displays the Milliseconds.
import java.text.SimpleDateFormat;
import java.util.Calendar;
import java.util.Date;
private String getTime() {
SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-M-yyyy hh:mm:ss.SSS");
String dateInString = "22-01-2015 10:20.56";
Date date = sdf.parse(dateInString);
return dateInString;
}
