* Slugtracking module: The Slugtracking Module has a unique feature of tracking each individual slug from its formation to either its exit from the pipeline or its extinction. The model considers the mechanisms of slug formation, merging of slugs, growth and decay of slugs. The Slugtracking Module has considerable value in the design of production facilities. It is designed to determine whether downstream equipment (such as separators and compressors) will be capable of processing the slugs properly. The Slugtracking Module can be used in conjunction with process simulation tools in order to develop control system designs, control strategies, operating guidelines and procedures. Mechanisms of slugging: Hydrodynamic slugging Terrain slugging Start-up slugging Slugging due to rate changes Slugs generated from pigging * For gas condensate lines predictions of holdup and pressure drop are very sensitive to pipeline profile at low rates. Holdup increases rapidly as gas velocity increases. Considerably entrainment of liquid at high rates. Generally for gas condensate lines, only slugs leaving lines are caused by rate changes or pigging Steady state methods can predict the holdup at the original and final conditions, but can not tell what happens during the transition.
