Absrtact: Good test design for radar
system, can effectively improve its maintainability, guarantee, reduce the
total life cycle cost. This paper briefly reviews the development of testing,
points out the importance and necessity of the test design to the radar system,
and gives the basic principles of the test design of the radar system. In this
paper, the design of in-machine test (BIT) of radar system is introduced in
detail from the aspects of networked design, hierarchical design, field
replaceable module (LRM) design, correction maintenance design and fault
diagnosis design, and the design of in-situ detection design and automatic test
equipment (ATE) is briefly introduced. With the development of radar
technology, the innovation and development of BIT technology and ATE technology
should be actively explored in the application of new diagnostic methods such
as comprehensive diagnostic technology, prediction and health Management (PHM)
technology in the test design of radar system. Key words: radar; Test-sex;

The development of testing

Testing was first proposed by Liour and
others in 1975, followed by extensive testing studies abroad, successively used
in various fields such as diagnostic circuit design and research.

In the 70, the United States found that
complex equipment in the long-term use of the outfield exposed a lot of testing
problems, such as long fault diagnosis time, BIT false alarm rate is high,
which not only affects the usability of equipment, but also affects the
maintenance of equipment and guarantee costs. Aware of the potential of testing
in equipment maintenance and protection, the US military began to promote
testing technology in the development and use of equipment. The electronic
system, issued by the United States Department of Defense in 1985

To a good solution, even become equipment
support 2 over 2 to 2 of the most sudden and equipment testing outline (MIL STD
2165), the test as the same as reliability and maintainability design
requirements, and set out the electronic system and equipment development
process should be implemented in the test analysis, design and verification
requirements and methods, It signifies that testing has become an independent
discipline juxtaposed with reliability and maintainability.

Through the test design research of
aviation equipment, the whole life cycle cost of aviation equipment is greatly
reduced in the United States. such as the development of the F 18 aircraft from
the beginning to pay attention to reliability, testing and maintainability
design. Compared with the F 4J aircraft, the guarantee cost is greatly reduced,
which greatly reduces the cost of the whole life cycle. According to a survey
by the United States Navy, the test technical improvements to more than 200 key
components of the F/3 a four naval major aircraft were reduced, reducing their
use and maintenance costs by 30, and further emphasizing that if the test
design is fully carried out early in the development of the aircraft, it can
reduce 10 ~20 of the total life cost of the aircraft.

Compared with foreign countries, the
domestic testing research started late, the testing design of equipment has
been gradually paid attention since the 1980s. In recent years, it has
developed more rapidly, carried out more systematic research, published many
articles and research reports, put forward clear testing requirements in the
development of important systems and equipment, carried out the test design
analysis work, and formulated a series of national military standards. Today,
however, the problem of equipment testing is still not

Out of question 122.

Obviously, for the radar system, improving
the testing, can improve the system combat readiness, mission reliability and
maintainability, effectively reduce the maintenance manpower and comprehensive
support resources costs.

3 Test design of radar system

The testing of a product is a design
feature in which a product can determine its status (work, non-work, or
performance degradation) in a timely and accurate manner and isolate its
internal faults.

For radar system, the main requirements of
testing are as strong as self-test function, convenient inspection and testing
inside and outside the machine, as well as maintenance test design objectives
(performance monitoring ability, work inspection ability, fault isolation
ability) and other three aspects, so that the system has a sound state
monitoring, fault inspection, fault isolation and fault prediction
capabilities.

The basic ideas and principles of
test/diagnostic design are:

(1) Parallel design principles

System functional characteristics are
designed at the same time as testing/diagnostics.

Figure 1 Test/diagnostic Parallel design
principles

(2) Hierarchical design principles

Consider the maintenance level and perform
the test/diagnostic design at a hierarchical level. At present, electronic
equipment in China generally uses three levels of maintenance, corresponding to
different maintenance levels, should be the system of testing/diagnosis of
layered design, in order to meet the requirements of different maintenance levels.

principles

(3) Integrated design principles

The combination of in-machine test and
external testing combines BIT, test assembly (TPS), A TE and in-situ testing
for integrated design, rational application of a variety of testing/diagnostic
means, in the system test design to achieve complete at the same time,
reasonable use of a variety of testing means.

(4) Principles based on reliability
analysis

Reliability impact should be considered
when testing the design. On the basis of reliability analysis, find the weak
link of the system, and focus on strengthening the test design of the weak
link, in order to improve the reliability and maintainability of the task.

Because the test has an important influence
on the task reliability, maintainability and life cycle cost of radar system.
Therefore, in a radar design process, on the basis of detailed analysis of the
function and performance of the system, combined with the system reliability,
maintainability and fault tree analysis results, to determine the appropriate
testing requirements and diagnostic options, the use of appropriate detection
techniques and methods, the preliminary test design and analysis, to ensure the
inherent testing indicators of the system; Then in the detailed design process
of the system, BIT software and hardware design, as well as outfield
replaceable unit (LRU) and a te compatible design, a te design and TPS design.

The following ideas and methods of test
design of a radar system are given from the aspects of BIT design, in-situ
detection design and A TE design. Figure 3 provides a schematic diagram of a
radar system.

3.1 in-machine test (BIT) design

In the process of bit design of radar
system, the selection of bit test point is a trade-off and compromise process.
On the one hand, it is hoped that the radar state can be fully monitored and
the fault should be thoroughly detected and positioned. On the other hand, test
points should be designed to weigh the reliability of the system, the ease of
implementation and the cost. In the process of system BIT design, the
correction maintenance design, in-situ detection design and A TE design are
considered in an integrated manner, the test resources are allocated
reasonably, the test efficiency of the system is improved, and the design cost
is reduced.

With reasonable design, the radar BIT has
the following main functions:

(1) Condition monitoring of the key
performance or functional parameters of a continuous or periodic detection
system to determine the state of the system, the process and time of recording
and tracking effectiveness;

(2) The fault diagnosis carries on the
accurate collection and the measurement to the various signals and parameters
reflecting the LRU state, in order to determine the system state and the
isolation fault;

(3) Fault prediction and treatment of the
development trend of predictive faults, put forward the corresponding
recommendations (downgrade operation; repair or continue to work). In order to
meet the testing requirements of radar system, combined with the
characteristics of different LRU of radar system, the continuous bit, cycle bit
and start bit can be designed to meet the requirements of bit, real-time bit
and post-task repair bit before task.

The main ideas and characteristics of BIT
design of a radar system are as:

(1) Networked design

As can be seen from Figure 3, the BIT
design of the entire radar system is based on the network. The bit fault
detection results of each LRU are processed by the sub-system bit processor and
sent to OWS (Operator Workbench)/BIT for processing and display over the
network. In this way, in the case of no increase or minimization of the
addition of in-machine test circuits and devices, the sub-system LRU fault
detection and fault setting

Two The design of BIT detection circuit and
signal transmission is greatly simplified.
