Dear teachers, my name is ###. I was born in SiChuan Province. I am majoring in information and Computing Science in the  ###  University. I am very honored to participate in this interview. Firstly, Let me introduce myself .

During my undergraduate time, I have been strict with myself. My GPA was ###, ranking the first in my major. Besides, I have passed level 4 and 6, having a solid mathematical foundation and strong programming ability. After class, I take part in competitions actively and won a total of 8 provincial awards. In the "Internet plus" competition, I led team members to set up the "####" innovative education website.

In terms of scientific research, I joined my teacher's research group in my sophomore year. At the beginning of the outbreak of COVID-19, I applied for the project "COVID-19 Epidemic Analysis" to predict the development trend of the epidemic. Meanwhile, I participated in the project of "Design and Implementation of Hybrid Recommendation Algorithm".

1.你在业余时间会做些什么？

我会看一些英语原著和英语文献，去提升自己英语的阅读翻译能力，也会从期刊杂志或者公众号去了解一些科技前沿的技术。此外，我也会抽时间多陪陪家人，听歌，跑步锻炼身体。

In my spare time, I read English original works and English literature in order to improve my English reading and translation ability. I also read periodicals and magazines to learn about cutting-edge technology. In addition, I will accompany my family, listen to music and exercise.

2.介绍一下你的家乡

My hometown is in Sichuan. It is a beautiful place. Since ancient times, it has the reputation of "the land of abundance".

People in my hometown are not afraid of spicy food, And there are many delicious food, such as: Huaiyuan frozen cake, bacon, Mapo tofu, rabbit head and Twice-cooked pork. I like Sichuan hotpot best. It's spicy but really delicious.

There are not only delicious food but also beautiful scenery in Sichuan. Dujiangyan has a long history and is famous at home and abroad. Its water conservancy projects irrigate all parts of Sichuan. Besides, you've all heard of the Great Buddha in Leshan. It's the largest Buddha statue in the world. In addition, there are street ancient town, Jiuzhaigou, Mount Emei. In Chengdu, there live in our national treasure giant pandas. A large number of people travel to Sichuan every year.

3.Why do you choose to study at our school?

First of all, I studied urban transportation as a minor major in Beijing Jiaotong University and had a basic understanding of the school. What impressed me most was that the teachers who taught us were very responsible and the lectures were very vivid.

Besides, there are double Pearson students of your school in our major. They have good evaluations of your university , and my teachers also recommend students to apply for the postgraduate of your university.

In addition, your school has a high academic level and rich scientific research achievements. Many research directions are very consistent with the fields I want to study. I believe that I can harvest a lot there.

4.What has been your greatest success/ accomplishment in campus life?

In my past college life, one of the most impressive things is the experience of taking part in the National Mathematical Contest in Modeling. Last September, it was the first time for our team to participate in this mathematical modeling competition. First, we analyzed the problem and defined the division of labor. My task is to model the problem and solve it by programming. In this process, I met some difficulties, but I kept studying, consulting literature and communicating with my teammates. After three days of efforts, eventually we won the second prize. In this competition, my deepest feeling is that don't give up.Keep learning when we meet with difficulties, there will be new harvest.

5.Can you tell me something about your family?

Thank you for your question. There are four members in my family, my father, my mother, my younger sister and me.

My father is an engineer, He is very responsible for his work. Under his influence, I actively cultivated the habit of doing things seriously and planned. My mother is a supermarket cashier. She is optimistic, diligent and capable. My sister is a college student, and we often learn from each other.

My parents attach great importance to the education of my sister and me and hope us to develop in all aspects. With their encouragement and support, my sister and I have been studying hard and making progress.

I’m so grateful to have such a harmonious family. I love my family.

6.What's your favorite hobby?/ Describe one of your hobbies.

My hobby is running. I am used to running for 20 minutes every day, which is not only beneficial to my physical and mental health, but also keeps me in good shape. I can use this time to think about something or empty myself.

I also participated in my college’s 800 meter race and the Beijing Dragon Boat race, and both achieved good results. In this process, I am also constantly enhancing my willpower and cultivating the quality of perseverance.

The combination of leisure can give full play to the level of intelligence，so I will continue to run.

7.Talk about your strengths.

I feel that my strongest merit is my ability to learn and think independently.

I think this strength is very important in my postgraduate stage. A person who wants to achieve something needs to think independently. Only in this way can we truly improve our academic ability. 

During my 3 years of college, I am good at summarizing and generalizing. For example, in the study of professional courses , I would listen carefully and summarize with my own understanding in class. In addition, I often draw mind maps to sort out the logical framework.

To summarize, I think I am a person not only with the ability to think independently, but also have the ability of logical thinking and team cooperation.

新冠疫情封锁期间你在做什么？

8.What did you do during the out-break-of the new corona virus?

The COVID-19 brought the society into a standstill. During the out-break, on the one hand ,I strictly complied with the requirements of the government to stay at home. So I have more time to accompany my families and communicate with them.Besides， I learned cook and Photo-shop software.

On the other hand, In addition to learning professional courses every day, I learned algorithms and programming. By doing some small projects with Python to  improve my programming level.

9.Tell me something about your major.

My major is Information and computing Science, which is a subject combining mathematics and computer information management with the background of information field.

Core courses include mathematical analysis, advanced algebra, complex functions and other mathematical courses. There are also computer courses such as numerical analysis, principles of computer composition.

Through the study of these courses, the students of our major have a good mathematical foundation and strong programming ability.

I am very interested in some fields involved in my major, but I lack systematic and in-depth study. I hope to further my study in the postgraduate stage.

10.tell me your favourite book

One of my favorite books is the old man and the sea . It's authored by American writer Ernest Hemingway.

It's a story about an old fisherman wrestles with a huge marlin. Although the end of the old man is tragic, he has the "superman" qualities, poised to accept failure and face death bravely, which reflect Hemingway's philosophy of life and moral ideal.

For each of us, whether in life or in studying, shouldn’t bow to fate,keeping the spirit of never yielding and an optimistic attitude towards life. As the book says “a man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated. ”

11.Do you have a career plan in 5 years?

After graduation, I hope to enter an Internet enterprise and become an excellent data analyst.

In the era of big data, data analysis is full of challenges and significance. At the same time, I am very interested in this job and hope to improve my business ability in a down-to-earth manner within 5 years.

Of course, this means that in the graduate stage, I should further seriously study the knowledge of data analysis and use this knowledge to improve my competitiveness in my future work.

12.What is your favorite subject and why?

During my undergraduate period, I studied many courses, such as advanced mathematics, computer composition principle, algorithm and data structure, etc. But my favorite course is C programming language.

It is the first programming course I came into contact with. It opened my way of programming and algorithms learning. The learning process not only exercised my logical thinking ability, but also laid a foundation for the study of other courses.

The teacher is another reason why I like this course. Her humorous teaching method makes me like this course more.

13.weakness

My weakness is that my character is too straightforward. Sometimes speaking without thinking will hurt other people's feelings.I remember in a team cooperation, my roommate made a plan, but the plan failed to meet my expectations. I directly asked her to revise it. Later, my roommate told me that I didn't take care of her feeling, which directly denied her efforts and did not give her enough respect.

I will learn how to deal with people  in the future and think more before doing things.

14.Why did you choose this direction?

With the development of the Internet, there is a large demand for talents majoring in big data and artificial intelligence, and the development prospect is broad.

Besides, I have done related projects and courses during my undergraduate study, and gradually developed my interest in this direction through practice. In addition, my major is science, which is an interdisciplinary subject of mathematics and computer science. Therefore, I have learned a lot of mathematics courses in the past three years, which has cultivated my logical thinking. Big data and artificial intelligence require a high level of mathematics, so this direction is very suitable for me.

15. 研究生期间你的计划？What is your plan during graduate school?

I plan to read and explore as many research papers as possible to help myself build up a complete comprehension of data analysis and artificial intelligence. Besides, I am dreaming of the participation of some relevant projects of my major, for this reason, I will get more experience in practice.

And what's more, I also plan to continue to improve my English.

In a word, I am looking forward to achieving excellent scientific research results and making up a solid foundation for future profession.
