According to The Financial Times, the Israeli cybersecurity company NSO Group has developed Pegasus advanced spyware software. With it, you can allegedly steal both local data and smartphones stored in Apple, Google, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft and other technology giants from smartphones.
The report says that using Pegasus, you can steal any information from the cloud storage, including the user’s location data, archived messages and photos. Once installed on the device, the virus copies authentication keys from various services, including Google Drive, Facebook Messenger, iCloud, and others. The remote server then simulates the user’s device, including its location, to gain access to the victim’s data.
The NSO Group itself denies selling software capable of breaking into clouds. But it is interesting that in the past, the introduction of malware through WhatsApp was noticed behind it. The company used a vulnerability in the messenger to install spyware viruses on smartphones using a simple phone call. This allowed her to track calls through the app. After some time, the WhatsApp developers have fixed this gap.
