Journey of LeetCode|DAY 47
Preface
This is a new day to continue my Dynamic Programming journey.
Learn something new and keep reviewing what I learnt before.
1. Is Subsequence
LeetCode Link: 392. Is Subsequence
Given two strings s and t, return true if s is a subsequence of t, or false otherwise.
A subsequence of a string is a new string that is formed from the original string by deleting some (can be none) of the characters without disturbing the relative positions of the remaining characters. (i.e., “ace” is a subsequence of “abcde” while “aec” is not).
Example 1:
Input: s = “abc”, t = “ahbgdc”
Output: true
Example 2:
Input: s = “axc”, t = “ahbgdc”
Output: false
Constraints:
0 <= s.length <= 100
0 <= t.length <= 10^4
s and t consist only of lowercase English letters.
Follow up: Suppose there are lots of incoming s, say s1, s2, …, sk where k >= 10^9, and you want to check one by one to see if t has its subsequence. In this scenario, how would you change your code?
Analysis and Solution
Dynamic Programming
LeetCode C++ as followings Dynamic Programming
class Solution {
public:
bool isSubsequence(string s, string t) {
vector<vector<int>> dp(s.size() + 1, vector<int>(t.size() + 1, 0));//two dimensioal array
for (int i = 1; i <= s.size(); i++) {//loop i
for (int j = 1; j <= t.size(); j++) {//loop j
if (s[i - 1] == t[j - 1]) dp[i][j] = dp[i - 1][j - 1] + 1;//recursive formula
else dp[i][j] = dp[i][j - 1];//delete an element of t
}
}
if (dp[s.size()][t.size()] == s.size()) return true;
return false;
}
};
2. Distinct Subsequences
LeetCode Link: 115. Distinct Subsequences
Given two strings s and t, return the number of distinct
subsequences
of s which equals t.
The test cases are generated so that the answer fits on a 32-bit signed integer.
Example 1:
Input: s = “rabbbit”, t = “rabbit”
Output: 3
Explanation:
As shown below, there are 3 ways you can generate “rabbit” from s.
rabbbit
rabbbit
rabbbit
Example 2:
Input: s = “babgbag”, t = “bag”
Output: 5
Explanation:
As shown below, there are 5 ways you can generate “bag” from s.
babgbag
babgbag
babgbag
babgbag
babgbag
Constraints:
1 <= s.length, t.length <= 1000
s and t consist of English letters.
