tree
a tree is a widely used data structure that simulates a hierarchical tree structure with a set of linked nodes. Tree is a subset of graph
node
A node is a structure which may contain a value or condition, or represent a separate data structure.
top node
The node at the top of the tree
parent node
A node that has a child is called the child's parent node
child node
A child node is the node below child's parent node
height
The height of a node is the length of the longest downward path to a leaf from that node.
depth
The depth of a node is the length of the edge to its root.
edge
An edge represents a connection between nodes.
Difference between height and depth
The depth of a node is the number of edges( the line that is connecting the nodes ) from the node to the tree's root, and the height of a node is the number of nodes on the longest path from the node to a leaf.
