redhat enterprise 5 install chinese input method (scim)

i haven't got a chinese input method after installing redhat,so i search the web and find the solution(so i write this blog in english)

Firstly ,ensure you have using the chinese in your redhat system

mount the installed CD to the /media

if you install redhat in virtual machine(as VMWare)

do like this

:

then go into the file  /Server

install those rpm package sequencely:

#rpm -ivh  xxx.rpm

scim-libs-1.4.4-39.el5.i386.rpm
 scim-1.4.4-39.el5.i386.rpm
 scim-chinese-standard-0.0.2-1.el5.i386.rpm
 scim-tables-0.5.6-7.i386.rpm
 scim-tables-chinese-0.5.6-7.i386.rpm
 scim-pinyin-0.5.91-15.el5.i386.rpm

when all done,restart the redhat,

then use ctrl|+space  to shift to the chinese input method
