Given an array and a value, remove all instances of that value in place and return the new length.
The order of elements can be changed. It doesn’t matter what you leave beyond the new length.
Method 1:(Not change the length of original array)
public class Solution {
public int removeElement(int[] nums, int val) {
int count = 0;
int index = 0;
for (int i = 0; i < nums.length; i++) {
if(nums[i] == val){
count++;
}else{
nums[index++] = nums[i];
}
}
return nums.length-count;
}
}
Method 2 : (Change the length of original array)
public class Solution {
public int removeElement(int[] nums, int val) {
int count = 0;
int index = 0;
for (int i = 0; i < nums.length; i++) {
if(nums[i] == val){
count++;
}else{
nums[index++] = nums[i];
}
}
int[] result = new int[nums.length-count];
System.arraycopy(nums,0,result,0,result.length);
nums = result;
return nums.length;
}
}
