Step 1: Determine the Kernel version:

Further details about the CPU can be found by typing following command:

Step 2: Enable root mode
exar@exar-desktop:~$ sudo –i

Step 3: List all the tty devices
root@exar-desktop:~# ls /dev/tty*
Step 4: Compile XR17V35x drivers and install them using insmod command
Step 5: check if the drivers are properly installed.
root@exar-desktop: lsmod
Should see xr17v35x module loaded.
Step 6: Look for Exar devices in /dev/tty*
Step 7: run ‘minicom’ utility
Step 8: In this configuration menu go to “Serial port setup” using '↓'or '↑' keys and press enter
Step 9: Select the settings you want to modify by selecting its corresponding alphabet.
For example: to change the serial device press 'a' or 'A' (it's not case-sensitive)
To change baud rate press 'e' or 'E'. For this manual we want to disable Hardware Flow Control hence we will press 'f' or 'F' and then when done press Enter
On pressing 'F' or 'f' Flow control mode automatically gets disabled or enabled
Press “Enter” to exit this menu.
Step 10: Save the settings
Once the settings are saved, Select 'Exit' from the menu.
Step 11: CONGRATULATIONS! Now you have successfully configured minicom and you are all set to send and receive data
