September is here and many of you are going back to school. Your challenge is to design a NXT robot that you would take to school.
What job would your robot do for you?
A writer robot? A robot that helps your teacher clean up? A robotic pet to keep in your desk? A guard bot to protect your locker? A lunch bot that brings your lunch for you? A robot that turns the pages of your textbooks? A robot that fetches you pencils?
The ideas are endless and we’ll be looking for the most creative robots that you could not be without at school!
There's no limit on amount of LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT sensors, motors, NXT programmable bricks, HiTechnic sensors, or Bluetooth communication you can use on your NXT Back to School Bot.
All entries to NXTLOG fall under the Terms of Service
Entries must be submitted from Saturday September 1, 2007 - Sunday September 30, 2007
All entries must be tagged "NXT200709"
Only LEGO elements may be used
There is no limit on the amount of LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT sensors,
motors, NXT programmable bricks, HiTechnic sensors, or Bluetooth
communication. No home brewed sensors allowed.
A programmable LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT brick must be onboard the robot and must control the robot's actions.
The NXT robot must be a robot that would perform a school related task. You must explain how the robot relates to being a “Back to School Robot” in your NXTLOG documentation.
A LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT program (.rbt file) is required of all robots entered to qualify.
You may enter more than one robot.
You may enter a robot that was previously submitted to NXTLOG (just remember to add the tag, "NXT200709")
All documentation (except video) must be posted on NXTLOG.
You must include the following in your NXTLOG Back to School Building Challenge entry:
Description - Careful, well-written explanation of how the robot was designed.
Pictures - Clear, well lit pictures - (no blurry ones!)
.rbt Program(s) - Annotations within the programs are a plus!
(Optional) Video
NXTLOG cannot host video at this time, but you may post a link to a video hosted on a personal website (no You Tube links)
The contest will be judged by the NXTLOG moderating team.
Go build, Contestants! You've got until Sunday September 30, 2007.
Winning projects will be highlighted on NXTLOG and MINDSTORMS.com news.
Good luck, and Play Well!
JUDGING
Robots will be judged in three categories:

CREATIVE USE OF NXTLOG
How are you using NXTOG to document your project? Is your NXTLOG easy to read? Are you posting explanations over multiple steps? Are your pictures clear? Did you check your spelling? Are you responding to comments on your NXTLOG? Are you documenting your project in a way that might surprise NXTLOGgers?
Careful explanations and pictures are essential to be considered for the Creative use of NXTLOG Award.
