Moving database : Transform schema by using toad (一)

     If you want to move a database from one server to another , there are some ways to go . The way I follow is to transform the users to another database . I use the utility wizard in toad to complete this mission.

 

     Now assume that I have a database named as "ODB".There is 1 user  "U1" ,which belongs to tablespace "U1" defaultly.

 

    1.Make sure the original database is running , start the toad ,go to database ==>export ==> Export utility wizard , select export users .Next select the user which you want to transform from all the users list in the left form ,go next .The account  you login in must be granted DBA role , otherwize you cannot continue.

    2.Specify the dmp file name ,like "E:/DMP/U1.dmp",then click the button to get the U1.dmp file.

    3.You need to set up a same database in the destination server.Including the tablespace "U1",the user "U1" which belongs to the tablespace "U1" defaultly.And you neet to grant the connect ,resource to user "U1".

     create tablespace U1 datafile 'E:/Database/Oracle/oradata/U1/U1.dbf' size 50m autoextend on next 50m maxsize 500m extent management local; create user U1 identified by U1 default tablespace U1; grant connect,resource to U1;

   

   4.Login to the destination server.Do the above things.Start your toad to import the user "U1".Also go to Import utility wizard in the menu.Select the user "U1" in the dropdown list.If not there,you can write the "U1" in the from text , the to text is "U1",ofcourse. Then click the button to import the user schema. The login account also needs to be granted DBA role.

   5.If there is no error encountered ,it means you import the schema successfully. In the actural database , there may be many schema for many users.You can deal with them one by one.All the same,good luck~~.
