Setup Wizard:one(Automated) or two(Manual)

Automated Installation (Wizard Based)

The automated installation will make use of a wizard to get the Return of the SmartPart installed.

1.       Extract the contents of the ReturnOfSmartPartv1_3.zip

 

2.       Run SETUP.EXE in the Setup folder.

3.       Accepted the license agreement, and finish all the steps of the wizard.

4.       Activate the feature on your SharePoint Site Collection: navigate to the Site Collection Features Page

Site Actions menu / Site Settings / Site Collection Features in the Site Collection Administration category:
http://server/_layouts/ManageFeatures.aspx?Scope=Site

Click the Activate button for the Return of the SmartPart v1.3 feature.

Step 4 can be accomplished as well by executing the following statement in a command prompt:

stsadm.exe -o activatefeature -n ReturnOfSmartPartv1_3 -url http://server

Manual Installation

The manual installation will make use of the Solutions framework of SharePoint 2007 to deploy the Return of the SmartPart. Step number 3 and 4 can also be done from the SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration site. For more information about the Solutions Framework see http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa543214.aspx.

1.       Extract the contents of the ReturnOfSmartPartv1_3.zip and copy the file Setup/ReturnOfSmartPart.wsp to a folder on your server, for example c:/smartpartinstall

2.       Add the Solution (wsp) to your SharePoint Server Farm: execute the following statement in a command prompt. The location of the STSADM tool is C:/Program Files/Common Files/Microsoft Shared/web server extensions/12/BIN, you should type everything on one single line.

stsadm.exe -o addSolution -filename c:/smartpartinstall/ReturnOfSmartPartv1_3.wsp

3.       Deploy the solution to your SharePoint server, execute following statement in a command prompt:

stsadm.exe -o deploySolution -name ReturnOfSmartPartv1_3.wsp -allcontenturls -local -allowGacDeployment

4.       Activate the feature on your SharePoint Site Collection: navigate to the Site Collection Features Page

the difference what I found When Deploy the site Webpart is that the quickpart needs .ascx files in wpresource catalogue but the smartpart nees .ascx files in UserControls and for each needs the enough Permissions for folder or virtual path!
