环(D-缬氨酸-L-脯氨酸)是一种无色液体，不溶于水，能与乙醇、乙醚、丙酮、苯混溶。用作色谱分析标准物质。

Cyclo(D-Val-L-Pro)含有缬氨酸和脯氨酸的环二肽，二肽是由两个氨基酸脱水缩合而成的。广义上二肽包括链状二肽和环二肽，例如：环（组氨酸-脯氨酸）二肽可由玉米蛋白水解得到，是由l-组氨酸和l-脯氨酸环合而成的环二肽。
